By involving diverse perspectives, this activity is expected to enrich public discourse and strengthen Indonesia’s role as a key actor in maintaining global stability and peace.

Public Diplomacy Fair 2025 Emphasizes Students' Role as Cultural Ambassadors of the Global South

The International Relations Study Program of Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR) once again held the 2025 Public Diplomacy Fair (PDF) with the theme “When Students Become Cultural Ambassadors of Global South Countries.” This event provided a creative platform for students to introduce the cultures of Global South countries, while strengthening public understanding of cultural diplomacy as a vital instrument in international relations.

The event featured various interactive booths, art performances, culinary specialties, and thematic discussions highlighting the rich cultures of Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Students acted as “cultural ambassadors” who bridged the community with the traditions, values, and identities of these countries.

In addition to promoting cultural diversity, PDF 2025 also emphasized the importance of people-to-people diplomacy in building solidarity between nations. Through direct interaction, visitors were encouraged to understand how culture can serve as a means of strengthening global cooperation amidst geopolitical and economic challenges.

With a spirit of togetherness, PDF 2025 emphasized the potential of students to become agents of change and bridges between cultures in the era of globalization.

Surviving the Global Storm: Strategies for Small Nations to Refuse to Become Victims

As part of the ICONIR 2026 series of events, this public seminar presented an in-depth discussion of the geopolitical, economic, and security challenges facing small states in the era of globalization. Speakers emphasized that in an uncertain international system, small states are often perceived as vulnerable and easily victimized by great power dynamics. However, the seminar emphasized that small states possess unique strategies for survival and even contribute to maintaining global stability.

Issues discussed included the importance of creative diplomacy, regional cooperation, and the use of soft power as a primary instrument. Small states were encouraged to strengthen their internal capacities, build solidarity among nations, and reject the role of mere recipients of the impacts of global policies. The discussion also highlighted the role of international institutions and civil society networks in supporting small state independence.

This event is part of the 2025 Public Seminar series organized by the International Relations Study Program at Parahyangan Catholic University (Unpar). By presenting critical perspectives, this seminar is expected to enrich academic discourse and inspire Indonesia and other countries in navigating global challenges.
